The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the first of the Sacraments of Healing. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation a person’s sins are forgiven in the name of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. The power of Jesus’ own death and resurrection reconciled all people to God. This sacrament is also known as Confession—since a person vocally tells his or her sins to the priest, and as Penance—because the one seeking forgiveness is asked to do something that demonstrates a willingness to make up for his or her sins.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available every Saturday afternoon from 5:00 to 5:30PM in the Church. You may also make an appointment with a priest to celebrate this sacrament by calling the Rectory at 212-787-0634.
