Parents are the first and foremost catechists who plant the seeds of faith long before participation in any formal catechetical programs. It is an education more witnessed than taught, more occasional than systematic, more ongoing and daily than structured into periods. (GDC 255)
Our expectation at Holy Trinity is that through the Religious Education Program, all parents will become immersed with their children in ongoing faith development.
Parents and students agree to the following:
Parents are enthusiastically encouraged to set aside time each week to review the material presented in class that week. (There are special pages in the student texts for family sharing.)
Parents are encouraged to meet and keep in touch with their child’s catechist regularly, in every way supporting their efforts in the faith journey on behalf of their child.
Most importantly, families are encouraged to attend various prayer services, sacramental celebrations, and social events scheduled throughout the year. Your participation in these parish events fosters a strong community of dedicated parents and families and strengthens our faith in Jesus as our risen Lord.
