Tuesday, September 13 at
6:00 P.M. the Holy Trinity Schola Cantorum, led by Director of Music & Organist Dr. Andrew H. Yeargin, will perform at an ecumenical prayer service which officially opens the 71st General Assembly of the United Nations. The service will take place at the
Church of the Holy Family at
315 East 47th Street. The service will be presided over by United Nations Secretary-General
Ban Ki-moon and the Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the U.N., His Excellency
Archbishop Bernadito Auza, who was a guest celebrant at Holy Trinty on Sunday, June 7, 2015.
The Schola Cantorum will sing a number of selections, including Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry's celebrated "I was glad," a setting of the Hebrew text "Yih'yu l'ratzon" by McNeil Robinson, Igor Stravinsky's Russian/Slavonic setting of the Lord's Prayer, and others. Andrew Yeargin will perform on the magnificent Robert Turner/Delaware pipe organ at the Church of the Holy Family.
