The Holy Trinity Schola Cantorum will return for the 2015–2016 choral season on Sunday, October 4 at
11:15 A.M. (
note the NEW TIME for the Choral High Mass). As always, the choir will be singing a varied repertoire of liturgical music, from Medieval works to 20th and 21st Century masterpieces. Highlights will include a portion of Leonard Bernstein's
Chichester Psalms sung at Msgr. Sandi's official installation service on October 11, the seldom-performed Requiem Mass of Jehan Alain on November 1, Haydn's "Große Orgelmesse" on Christmas Day and the austere
Messe Solennelle of Louis Vierne on Easter Sunday.
In conjunction with the
Musica Trinitatis Concert Series, the Schola Cantorum will sing for Holy Trinity's first annual
Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Sunday evening, December 20 at 7 P.M. Patterned after the famous service broadcast every Christmas from King's College in Cambridge, U.K., this unique liturgy combines scripture readings and musical offerings which frame the story of our faith from the fall of Adam, through the prophecies of the Old Testament, to the birth, life, death and resurrection of the Messiah. This special service (it IS a service, not a concert!) is
not to be missed!
